John A. Williamson Sr.

77, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2013 surrounded by his family. John, known to many as "Big John" was born on April 19, 1936 to Elizabeth (Bartlow) Williamson and David E Williamson. John's father was tragically killed in an auto accident prior to his birth and he was raised by his mother and grandmother, Carrie Bartlow.

John was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and served in the United States Air Force. He became a Police Officer for The Indianapolis Police Department in 1963 and retired in 1989. He was a member of Mars Hill Free Methodist Church. John loved his family, his church, and his country. He is survived by daughters, Debi (Williamson) Shank, Melissa (Williamson) Cox, and Pamela (Waterman) Marcum; sons, Jay Williamson(Caryn), Joseph Williamson and Lance Cool (Tracy); two grandsons, David Williamson(Brittany) and Jonathan May(Molly); four granddaughters, Amanda Williamson Fritz (Troy), Abbi Shank, Jessica Williamson Ellerbe (Harold) and Patricia Williamson Wang (Josh). The latter of the two were raised by John from the age of one year old. He also had two great-granddaughters.

There will be a memorial graveside service at 3 p.m. on October 19th in Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
