John Edward Fennelly

79 of Hope died Saturday Feb. 2, 2013 at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mr. Fennelly had retired as a plant electrician from Arvin, was a Ranger for Broad Creek Boy Scout Reservation in Whiteland, Maryland and was an electrical engineer technician 19 years with Martin Marietta in Maryland, Denver, Florida and Wiesbaden Germany. He was a member of First Christian Church in Columbus and also had attended Hope Moravian Church. He served with the U.S. Army, loved the boy scouts and served as a scout leader and BSA county commissioner in Maryland, loved golfing and hit 4 hole in ones, enjoyed fishing, snacking, sightseeing, camping, idendifying plant uses, telling stories and jokes, walking his dogs and leisure time with his family. The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery. Born in Baltimore , Maryland, Mr. Fennelly was the son of Lawrence Angelo and Lillian Belt Fennelly. He married Caroline Siemantel August 26, 1966 in Orlando, Fl. and she survives. Other survivors include; daughters, Trinda(Doug) Fennelly Metzger of Indianapolis, Gail (Rob) Coplin of South Carolina, Karen (Mike) Nichols of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Lisa (Andy) Coplin of Longwood, Fl.; sons, John R. and Zane H. Fennelly, both of Jacksonville, Fl. and Richard L. Fennelly of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Alexis, Niki, Nicholas, Ian, Ben, Kaitlyn, Annalyse, Alexandria, Lauren, Sam and Zachary; great grandchildren, Kaden, Jacob and Konnor; a brother, Robert Fennelly of Welaka, Fl. and pets, Dottie and Molly. John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Lawrence and Buck and sisters, Lee, Alice and Emily.
