Lawrence I. "Larry" George

87, Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. He was born September 10, 1926 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Dale M. and Zelma Gossage George. For nine years photography by Larry George appeared on the pages of the Indianapolis News. His photos won numerous state and national awards. He was a member of the Indianapolis Press Club. In 1963 he left the News to take a job with Eli Lilly and Company in the Photography Audio Visual Services Department. His work included still and motion picture photography for company publications, training programs and advertising. He retired after 26 years with the company. He was a veteran of the Army and a graduate of Indiana Central College (University of Indianapolis). He loved family, photography, fishing and Boots Randolph. Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue; daughter, Suzanne (Terry) Caldwell; sons, Jeff (Beth Carrington) and Brian George; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Visitation will be Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple . Graveside services will be held Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. in Sutherland Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Indianapolis.
