Leo Freeland Johnson

71, of 4 BelIaire Drive, New Castle, PA passed away the afternoon of November 6, 2012 in New Castle. Born March 10, 1941 in Decatur, Illinois, he was a son of Harold Johnson and Catherine Greene Johnson Geisking Cunningham. He is survived by his former wives, Dolores Padgett Johnson Pettitt of Holbrook, PA and Betsy Sue Reed of Arizona. Leo served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962 during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with the teamsters as a truck driver for over 30 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Indianapolis Colts. Leo was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church where he was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. In addition to his former wives, he is survived by three daughters, Brenda (James) Wilkinson of Sandy Lake, PA, Carrie King and Marcie Holmes, both of New Castle; one sister, Patricia Foxworthy of Indianapolis, IN; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant brother and a brother Harold Johnson. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 12, at 3:00 p.m. at Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church, Clen-Moore Blvd., New Castle. Rev. Andrew Jillson will officiate.
