Marilyn K. Halbrook

Indianapolis, passed away peacefully after battling pancreatic cancer on her 74th birthday, August 27, 2013. She was born in Indianapolis to the late Carl and Mary Miles.

Marilyn graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1957 and graduated Butler University in 1961. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Marilyn went on to earn her Master's Degree from Indiana University.

Marilyn had a passion for volunteerism, traveling, politics and entertaining. She was known for her spunk and adventurous nature willing to go anywhere or try different things. She was actively involved in the Indianapolis Museum of Art Alliance, Indianapolis Day Nursery Auxiliary, Tri Delta Indianapolis Alumni chapter, Family Support Auxiliary, Women in Neighborhood Service (WINS - Past President), Pike Township Precinct Chairman/Ward Chairman, Methodist Hospital Task Core, Theater Arts Guild and the Riviera Club water babes aerobics group. She served on the Marion County zoning board, as a Docent at the Indiana State Museum, and treasurer for Broad Ripple H.S. class of '57 steering committee/treasurer. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 30 years.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Geoff (Carrie) Halbrook, Brett (fiancée Lora Singleton) Halbrook, Kerri (Ryan) Thompson, 'adopted daughter' Michelle Beers and was a beloved Grandmother to her six grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life & Faith service will be held on Saturday, October 12th, 2013 at First Baptist Church, 8600 North College Avenue, Indianapolis. A pre-service meet & greet will start at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church: Chiang Rai International Christian School or First Baptist Church Kitchen Fund.
