Marjorie June Katterhenry Pottenger

92, a lifelong resident of the west-side of Indianapolis died July 23, 2013. Marjorie was born on August 17, 1920 in Indianapolis to Roy Ray and Pauline (Hart) Katterhenry. Marjorie was a 1938 graduate of Washington High School and attended Indiana University. She was a founding member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was an active member in the church Choir and Women's Circles at church. She was also a member and former officer of the Ladies Service Sorority Phi Beta Psi. Marjorie along with her late husband Richard Lloyd Pottenger owned and operated Pottenger Nursery over 40 years on the west side of Indianapolis. Marjorie married the love of her life Richard Lloyd Pottenger in 1943 and enjoyed their life together for 58 wonderful years until Richard's death in 2001. Marjorie was also preceded in death by her younger sister Helen Tewksbury. Marjorie was currently a resident of Crestwood Village West. Marjorie was so looking forward to the wedding of her grandson Taylor and the arrival of her first two great grandchildren this year. Calling will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway from 4 to 8 p.m. Additional calling will be held on Saturday July 27, 2013 at Wesley United Methodist Church 3425 West 30th Street Indianapolis, IN 46222 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:30 p.m. Marjorie is survived by her loving children, Richard "Rick" L. (Sharon) Pottenger and Roy N. (Margaret) Pottenger and her grandchildren Brian, Jay (Danielle), Brent, Kai (Lauren), Sean Pottenger and Taylor Willard, and her sister-in-law, Nancy J. Pottenger and brother-in-law, Richard (Marion) Tewksbury and her "good buddy," Ralph Chambers. Burial will be in Washington Park North Cemetery.
