Mary Louise Masters Wesselman

95, passed away January 28 in Indianapolis, IN. She was born January 24, 1919 in Indianapolis, to Paul Lewis and Mildred Carter Masters of Castleton.

Mrs. Wesselman was married 69 years to Harold J. Wesselman who passed away January 25, 2013. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Wesselman Jackson (Richard S, Jr) of Lenox, MA, and Mary Ann Wesselman of Frederick, MD; her grandsons, Charles Wesley Stephanoff of Jacksonville, NC, and Christopher John Stephanoff (Kelly) of Frederick, MD. She is also survived by her sisters, Suzanne Pittenger, Indianapolis; Dorothy Haskins, Lincoln, NE; Mildred Masters, St Louis Park, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews including Gordon Pittenger and wife Cindy of Indianapolis and their 3 children Kristen, Brooke, Scott and families. She was predeceased by a daughter, Julia, who died January 16, 2013, and sister, Elizabeth Bryant.

She graduated from Castleton High School and Indiana University School of Nursing. After graduation, she worked for IU Medical Center School of Nursing as an instructor. While Harold served in the US Navy in California, she was on staff at Pomona Valley Hospital. She later returned to the IU School of Nursing as Assistant Director of Nursing Service. Beginning in 1969 until retirement in 1984, she was a clinical nursing instructor with Indianapolis School of Practical Nursing and IVY Tech.

She was a charter member of Epworth United Methodist Church. A long-time advocate for the developmentally disabled, she was active and held offices in the Muscatatuck Parents' group and MARC. She was also a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Sylvan Homemakers Club, AAUW, Review Club, Keep Indiana Beautiful, and Indiana University Alumni Association. She was a Red Cross volunteer nurse for 50 years. She also volunteered at Heritage Place, Shepherd Center, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. She loved to sew and knit and will long be remembered for her gardening skill and knowledge.

Services will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church, 6450 Allisonville Rd., Indpls., IN 46220 on Saturday, February 1 at 11:00 a.m.
