Milton "Mel" Burden
95, of Indianapolis, passed away November 6, 2013. He was born May 18, 1918 in Chattanooga, TN, to the late Milton and Ethel Tinkham Burden.
Mel served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked as an Industrial Engineer for General Motors, retiring in 1981. He was an avid horseman and photographer who never knew a stranger. He had a deep interest in peoples' stories and a way of seeing and bringing out the best in everyone. He and his wife Betty shared a love of fine art, painting, and dancing to big band music. They frequented many Indianapolis venues for live music and dancing throughout the '40s and '50s.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 12, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon at Shirley Broth ers Washington Memorial Chapel , 9606 E. Washington St.
Mel is survived by his loving wife, Betty Burden; daughter, Kim Burden; sister, Delores O'Dell; nieces, Linda Collins and Sharon Reynolds; god-daughter, Leslie Hoagland; nephews, Ken Hinds and Phil Hinds.
