Morris D. Dawson

92, of Indianapolis, passed away November 13, 2012. He was born August 31, 1920, in Elnora, IN, to the late Bert and Emma Payton Dawson.

Morris served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Maude Smallwood, and she preceded him in death April 20, 1998. Morris was a tool & die maker for Ideal Engineering for 27 years, retiring in 1980. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Cumberland.

Visitation will be Friday, November 16, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Wash ington Memorial Chapel , 9606 E. Washington St., and Saturday, from 12 noon until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Cumberland, 116 S. Meussing St.

Morris is survived by his children, Phylis Richter, Judy Harper, Sue (Tim) Gahimer, Kathy Dawson and Dennis Dawson; daughters-in-law, Betty Dawson and Marcy Dawson; 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

A son, Kenneth Dawson; two sons-in-law, Edward Richter and Jack Harper; and 11 siblings, also preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Cumberland and/or Simon Cancer Center.
