Phyllis J. Awbrey R.N.

89, Indianapolis, passed away June 17, 2014. She was born March 7, 1925, in Huntington, the daughter of the late Thomas and Marie (Sherer) Landrigan. She married her loving husband, Don C. Awbrey, Sr. who preceded her in death.

Phyllis graduated from St. Margaret School of Nursing in Hammond, Indiana. She served in the Army Cadet Nursing Corp at a Indian Reservation in the TB unit in Talihina, OK. She later practiced at St. Vincent's Hospital, Pediatric Unit

She is survived by her four daughters, Deborah (John) Mobley, Sandra L. Dease, Constance A. Smith, Peggy Hess; eight grandchildren, Don C. Awbrey III, Emily (Avery), Laura (William), Jennie (Mike), David (Ashley), Katie, Hannah, Abby; 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Robert, Joanne, Marjorie (Carl), and Sharon; and her loving companion, Buddy. She was also preceded in death by a son, Don C. Awbrey II; son-in-law, David Smith; granddaughter, Barbara Ellen Awbrey Todd; and three brothers, Paul, Gerald, and Jim.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at Flanner and Buchanan - Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A committal ceremony will follow the services at Washington Park North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Riley Children's Foundation.
