Richard C. Suggs
81, of Terre Haute, died Monday, March 11, 2013, at home. He was born May 14, 1931, in Indianapolis, moving to Terre Haute in 1991. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army. He later retired from General Motors in 1989 after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the Israel of God's Church, W.H.A., and served as a faithful deacon until his death.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Barbara Turner-Suggs; one sister, Helena Strickland; sons, Jonathon Suggs (Dawn) of Indianapolis, Jeffrey Turner (Kristi) and Adrian Turner (Sheila) of Terre Haute, and Tim Mohr (Michael) of Memphis, Tenn.; daughters Deborah Lampkins, Juanita Williams, Brenda Johnson (Ron), and Diane Davis, all of Indianapolis, Paula (Andre) Stanley of Bowie, Md., and Valerie Hopson of Fredericksburg, Va.; special cousins, Steven Suggs, Roger Wilkins, Frank Wilkins, Patti and Rosie; one niece, Dana; nephews, Chris, Robert, and Jordan; 28 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, friends, and family.
Richard loved children and was loved by all. Richard will always be remembered for his loving spirit. He wanted everyone to smile and made friends wherever he went. He loved to bowl and sing in church. The time spent singing in the senior citizens programs was one of his greatest joys.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at The Israel of God's Church, W.H.A., 2135 Fox Hill Drive, in Indianapolis. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., and services following at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
