Richard L. "Dick" Wood
75, Greenwood, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013. He was born in Indianapolis on December 31, 1937 to James and Olive Wood. Dick served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-59. He worked as a salesman for Ram Tool and Supply for many years before retiring in 1993. Dick underwent heart transplant surgery in 1997 and lived a strong life enjoying his favorite activities of family and horse racing until his death. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anita Smyser Wood; son, Richard L. Wood II (Kim); daughter, Tiffany Wood; 7 grandchildren, Fletcher Wood, Kelsie Wood, Brandon Ringham, Michael Ringham, Lea Rogers, Nolan Wood and Maddux Wood; 3 sisters, Susie Villareal,Norma Jean Lockhart and Carol Wood; 1 brother, Bob Wood; 3 sisters-in-law, Linda Ennis, Patty Noone and Cindy Broshears; and a brother-in-law, Harry Smyser. Dick was preceded in death by his daughter, Paige Wood; sisters, Mildred Dailey and Donna Woolbright; sister-in-law, Vicki Archer; brothers-in-law, Billy Smyser and Duke Smyser. Visitation will be Monday, February 4, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Daniel F. O' Riley Funeral Home , 6107 S. East St. (US Hwy 31 South), Indianapolis, IN 46227. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in SS. Francis and Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 5901 Olive Branch Rd., Greenwood, IN 46143.
