Robert C. Binder

Robert C. "Bob" Binder,

88, of Greenwood, formerly of Mooresville, passed away May 2, 2013. He was born April 28, 1925 in Covington, KY to the late William H. Binder II and Helen M. Leggo Binder.

Bob married Joan Ellen Widner, May 29, 1948, and she preceded him in death, October 20, 2008.

He graduated from Arsenal Tech H. S. in 1943 and attended Washington State College and Purdue University. Bob served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WW II.

Bob was the Director of Code Enforcement for the State Building Commissioner for ten years, retiring in 1998. Previously, he worked as Vice-President of Construction for J. C. Hart Co. for 32 years. He was awarded a "Sagamore of the Wabash" by Governor Otis Bowen.

Bob was a member of Ss. Francis & Clare Catholic Church, 5901 Olive Branch Rd., Greenwood, IN 46143, where memorial visitation will be held Tuesday (TODAY), May 7, 2013, from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 p.m. Father Vincent P. Lampert and Father Thomas Widner (nephew) will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Surviving are his loving children, Vincent Binder (Linda), Phillip Binder (Jan), Barbara Binder (Andy Klages); four grandchildren, Suzanne Binder, Annette Ray (Tony), Lisa Calvert (Nathan), and Jennifer Binder; and a great-grandson, Noah Calvert. His son, Gregory R. Binder and a brother, William H. Binder III, preceded him in death.
