Robert James "Bob" Barr
99, Indianapolis, passed away May 15, 2013, one month prior to his 100th birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mae Barr; sister, Ruth Barr Swinehart; first wife, Doris Waltz Barr; second wife, Margaret Rose Barr; son, Ronald M. Barr; and daughter, Sandra Barr Newsom. He is survived by his son, Bruce E. Barr; daughters-in-law, Kathy Barr and Bell Barr; sister-in-law, Shirley Praed; several cousins, nieces and nephews; thirteen grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren. Bob was in the first graduation class of George Washington High School (Indianapolis) in 1930. He worked for J.D. Adams Company for 35 years and was self-employed for many years as the owner of several laundromats. He also worked for Now Courier for 18 years, retiring at the age of 95. Bob was a member of the Elks Lodge in Linton, IN and was an avid bowler well into his eighties. He also loved his little dog Odie. Per Bob's wishes, there will be a private family viewing and then interment at Washington Park North Cemetery. A memorial celebration will be held in June to honor his life.
