S. Elaine Gorski
53, of Fishers, passed away at home on March 7, 2013, with her family by her side. Elaine was born January 17, 1960 in Seymour, Indiana. Elaine graduated from Ball State University with a degree in accounting. She returned to her home town after graduation and began a successful and rewarding career. After brief stints working for the State of Indiana and a local CPA firm, she was hired as an internal auditor for Home Federal Bank in Seymour. Elaine enjoyed a 20 year career with Home Federal rising to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer before her retirement in 2007. Elaine most enjoyed working directly with customers of the Bank and mentoring staff members at Home Federal.
Elaine dedicated her life to raising her two daughters, Hilary (27) and Emma (25), enriching her faith and cultivating and maintaining friendships. Elaine loved spending time shopping and traveling with her daughters and she was in communication with them daily. Elaine was always active in her church, first at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, and then at Geist Christian Church when she moved to Fishers. Elaine loved to study the bible both for spiritual knowledge and peace it brought her, but also for the relationships that she developed in her bible study classes. Elaine had great passion for cultivating and maintaining friendships. Elaine was always happy when she was able to spend time with her many different groups of friends. She loved to research and plan and she got the greatest joy in planning trips for family and friends - particularly overseas trips. Elaine loved to travel as much for the planning and knowledge that she gained in doing her research as for the travel itself. It seems that everyone who came in contact with Elaine over the years was captivated by her energy and compassion. Elaine was always thinking of ways to enrich the lives of others.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Mark Gorski; her daughters, Hilary and Emma Pollert; her step-children, Steven, Kristen and Matthew Gorski; her mother and step-father, Sondra and Lee Nowling; her father and step-mother, Al and Shirley Hochstetler; her brother, Bob; and sisters, Teresa, Fay and Tracey.
