Sydney P. Cook

Indianapolis, born October 3, 1932 died February 18, 2013, at Marquette Health Center after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 80 years of age. A native of Ann Arbor, MI, Syd held both a B.B.A. and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan. He spent his entire career in marketing and advertising, retiring as a Senior Vice President, Marketing Director for Bank One, Indianapolis and Banc One Indiana Corporation. He was a member of the Indiana Press Club, as well as the Advertising Club of Indianapolis where he served as President. He also served on the Board of Directors at WFYI, Crossroads Rehabilitation Center, and the Catholic Youth Organization public relations committee. Syd was also a U.S. Army veteran. An avid athlete, Syd played on the University of Michigan basketball team, but his true passion was racquet sports.

He was married to his devoted wife, Beverly (nee Buchner), for 55 years. They were members of Highland Golf and Country Club and Second Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife, Syd is survived by his two daughters, Amy Steele (William) and Carolyn Nichols (Scott, Sr.), his grandchildren, Scott Nichols, Jr. (Rebecca), Emily Steele Duckworth (Joel Ryan), Megan Nichols, and Elizabeth Steele, and his great-granddaughter Stella Duckworth. Syd, our "chum", will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held in Marquette Manor Foundation Hall on February 22, 2013 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Syd's name can be made to Parkinson's Foundation Research or Marquette Manor Foundation.
