Thelma M. Leander

Thelma Margaret Johnson Leander

88, died on Saturday, November 3, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Gustaf M. and Minna C. Johnson and the step-daughter of the late Svea Johnson who raised her lovingly from when Thelma was a young child.

Thelma attended Salters Secretarial School and Miss Farmer's School of Cookerie in Boston, Massachusetts. She had been a member of Stansfield Circle, The Indianapolis Museum of Art Alliance, Day Nursery Auxiliary, The Players Club, Contemporary Club, and the Nora Belles Garden Club.

Thelma had been the Wedding Coordinator at Second Presbyterian Church for 17 years.

She was the widow of Walter R. Leander, her husband of 55 years. Her daughter, Karen S. Leander, died in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2009.

She is survived by her son W. R. Leander, Jr. (Terry) of Indianapolis, her son Douglas R. Leander of Tacoma, WA, her sister Alberta J. Ferree of New York City, and her grandson Eliah D. Leander of Tacoma.

Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel , is assisting the family during their loss.

There will be a private family grave site service in the near future.
