Virginia S. Daries
90, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Virginia was born on May 7, 1923 in Clinton, IN to Paul and Ruth (Doughty) Shew. After graduation from Clinton High School, she attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville, TN. Virginia received an English and Business Administration Degree from Indiana State Teacher's College in 1945. She participated in Job's Daughters (Bethel #5), danced with the Boulevard-Dears at the Stevens Hotel in Chicago, and belonged to Delta Theta Tau, a philanthropic organization. At Indiana State Teacher's College she met Frederick P. Daries of Indianapolis. Virginia married Fred on September 1, 1945 in Dearborn, MI. After Fred was graduated from the University of Michigan, they returned to Indianapolis. Virginia taught in the Indianapolis Public Schools #45 & #68, as well as the Lawrence Township Schools Belzer & Skiles Test. The couple lived in the Indianapolis area until 2004 when they moved to Vero Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred and her sister, Adelyn Cogar. Survivors include her son, Rick (Carolyn); daughter, Kim (Dan) Madden; grandchildren, Susan Daries, James, Jon and Elyse Madden and 4 great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Friday, January 24 in Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ. Her burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery, and arrangements were handled by the Crown Hill Funeral Home .
