William "Bill" Allstatt

88, of Beech Grove, went to heaven to be with his wife on Friday, February 22, 2013. He had been an Indianapolis Firefighter for 40 years when he reluctantly retired due to health problems. He was very passionate about his job and loved to play tennis. He won many awards, including medals from the Police and Fire Games and the Senior Classics. He loved the beach and he loved helping others. Most of all, he loved his family with his whole heart. He was an outstanding man. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Allstatt (Forstel), one brother and his wife of fifty years, Mary Allstatt (Waldo). He is survived by his two devoted daughters, Judy Allstatt and Debbie Long (Jim), two grandchildren, Shelby (Ralph) and Adam (Kristin). He also had seven great-grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as "the great one" and two special family friends, Melba Moore and Cheri Thompson. He will be forever missed. There will be a celebration of his life Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. with a eulogy given by the Indianapolis Fire Dept. at 3:30 p.m. at G.H.
