Mary Moss

Indianapolis, renowned vocalist, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016. Known as "The Lady with a Song" she embarked upon her illustrious singing career in the Bluegrass state, first in church choirs, later appearing in nightclubs and eventually teaming with singing partner and husband, King.

Relocating to Indianapolis, she appeared in local clubs. Nationally, on the Playboy Club circuit, she performed with a number of singing stars. In 2002, she was inducted into the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation Hall of Fame. A regular at the Jazz Kitchen and Chatterbox, she was also featured at Indy Jazz Fest, Wes Montgomery Jazz Fest, Jazz on the Avenue (Madame Walker) and on Channel 20.

Honored by the Indianapolis Chapter of the  Links in 1996, The Polis Center featured her in their book called - "Voices of Faith: Making a Difference in Urban Neighborhoods and  Indianapolis Monthly magazine featured Mary. She was the founder of "Women Kickin' It" which has been a tremendous success!

Services will be Friday, January 15, 2016 at 12 p.m. with visitation and musical celebration on Thursday, January 14, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Stuart Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be at Washington Park North Cemetery.

She leaves to cherish her memory her family, Patricia Campbell, Elizabeth Stewart, Alice Smith, Carl Roberts, Ella Mae Chandler and many great friends.
