Anthionette Denzio Norris
78, of New Palestine, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, June 22, 2013. She was born on September 7, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana as the daughter of Cecil Denzio and Fannie (Priola) Price. She went to Broad Ripple High School. She married Finis T. Norris Jr. on December 31, 1949 in Franklin, Indiana.
She worked in the family produce business at the City Market in Indianapolis, was a homemaker, floral designer, pre-school teacher in New Palestine, worked in retail and also worked as a child care provider. She was a founding member and treasurer of the New Palestine Lioness Club, past PTA President at IPS, past President of New Palestine Softball League, Girl Scout Troop Leader, and a volunteer at Camp Woodsmoke. Her favorite pastimes were Bingo, card games and going to the casino. She shared her love of board games and taught the value of winning and losing. She was a wonderful cook and baker who was well-known for her pasta and meatballs. Anthionette dedicated her life to her family as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving her are her children, Barbara (Robert) Mounce of New Palestine, Sandra Hittle of Greenfield, Vicki (Paul) Whittington of Greenfield, Karen (Jay) Pope of Pendleton and James Norris of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Andrea (Ron) Hittle, Denise (Bob) Ehle, Jeremiah Pope, Jamie Hittle, Eddie (Tara) Whittington, Jacob Pope and Robert (Erika) Whittington; great-grandchildren, James Ehle, Johnathan Ehle, Skylar Cumbee, Kyleigh Hittle, Blake Whittington, Aubrey Whittington and Lauren Whittington; two siblings; several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband of 60 years, Finis Norris Jr.; parents; grandson, Taylor Lee Pope; and son-in-law, James Richard Hittle II.
Per Anthionette's wishes, there will be a private burial service on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Holy Cross St. Joseph's of Indianapolis. A Celebration of Life Visitation for friends and family will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield, Indiana.
