William L. "Bill" Clark

Passed away on February 10, 2014 at the age of 87. Bill was born in Beech Creek, PA on September 20, 1926.

He is survived by Freida, his wife of 65 years; and their sons, Bill, Larry and Kevin; as well as grandchildren, Bill, Stephanie, Joe and Max. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beryl and Dorothy Clark; and brothers, Ken, Jack and Beryl.

Bill was a WWII Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific. He then attended Indiana Central University (University of Indianapolis) where he met Freida. He began his teaching career in the Indianapolis Public School system where he was instrumental in beginning the junior high level sports program. Bill and Freida then moved to Speedway, IN where they have been residents for 59 years. Bill taught Biology at Speedway High School for 34 years (1954-1987) and coached football and baseball. A longtime member of Speedway United Methodist Church, Bill served as a Sunday school teacher and head usher.

He loved hunting, fishing and playing golf as well as frequent trips to his beloved cabin near Cataract Lake in Cloverdale, Indiana.

Services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan - Speedway , located at 2950 North High School Road in Speedway, IN. Visitation will be on Friday, February 14th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the funeral (Celebration of Life) on Saturday, February 15th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Paoli Community Cemetery in Paoli, IN.
