Charles Proffitt

79, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Sept. 21 at his home in Crawfordsville.

Mr. Proffitt was the field manager for the Goodyear Tire racing division. He served in the Army Infantry in Korea from 1953-1955 and was a member of the American Legion Post 72. He attended Arsenal Tech High School.

Born March 8, 1933 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Henry and Anna Proffitt. He married Phyllis Spikes Proffitt on Oct. 2, 1953. She survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Doug, Jeff and Steve, three grandsons, six granddaughters, four great-granddaughters, two sisters and a brother. Two brothers preceded him in death.
