Charles Richard Currin III
79, of Carmel died December 20, 2013. He was born in Old Hickory, Tennessee on April 24th 1934, to Charles Currin II and Anne Chamberlin Currin. He moved to Lookout Mountain, Tennessee and attended Baylor School for Boys in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He attended Washington and Lee University and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in business. He served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne division. Upon graduation, he worked for the Coca-Cola Company and later became owner and distributor of Northern Indiana Coca Cola Bottling Company, where he and his family resided in LaPorte, Indiana. While there he served on the Boards of LaPorte Hospital, the First of America Bank, and was president of the YMCA. He was a member of the Indiana Soft Drink Association and the Gyro Club of Indianapolis. In 1994, he and his wife moved to Carmel, where he became a member of Meridian Hills Country Club and enjoyed many games of tennis, golf and bridge. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed IU basketball and the Indianapolis Colts.
Richard is survived by his wife Anne Marie, to whom he was married for 50 years; daughters Deborah Wharton(Scott) and Lynne Moore(David). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Daniel Moore, Annie Wharton, and twins Parker and Avery Moore, all of Carmel.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Salvation Army and to the Baylor School for Boys. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Monday, December 23rd at Second Presbyterian Church with funeral services following. A private family burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery.
