Charline Thornburg

was born October 8, 1914 in Winchester, IN to Roy J. and Lena Leota (Johnson) Thornburg. She was raised by Roy and Rose (Cox) Thornburg after the untimely death of her mother.

She graduated from McKinley High School in 1932 and Methodist Episcopal Hospital in Indianapolis with a degree in Nursing in 1935. She was a nurse for Dr. Irwin W. Wilkens, a diabetic specialist, for 26 years. After Doc's retirement, Charline worked at Methodist Hospital as a teacher and care nurse for diabetic patients until her retirement.

Charline was an active member of Faith United Church of Christ where she was a member of the Guild and a volunteer at the Altenheim Health and Living. She was a lifelong learner and enjoyed reading and traveling.

She is survived by a sister, Phyllis Ann Dwiggins of Winchester, ten nieces and nephews and many great and great great nieces and nephews.

Charline was preceded in death by a brother, L. Ivan Thornburg of Winchester and a sister, Elizabeth Eileen Brown of West Lafayette.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Fountain Park Cemetery in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Faith United Church of Christ, 4040 E. Thompson Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46237. Online condolences may be expressed at
