David Michael Vavra
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David M. Vavra. David, 43, died peacefully with his family, friends, and loving wife of 16 years, Christy, by his side. David was born in Gary, IN on November 25, 1968 to Frank and Joyce Vavra. He was preceded in death by his only sister, Anne Plikaitis, April 17, 2009.
David graduated from Merrillville High School ('87) and went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from Ball State University. He was an active member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. For the past 12 years, David was a Design Engineer for Great Dane Trucking, Chicago, IL. He was a devoted father and loyal Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. David enjoyed traveling with his family, visiting Mexico, snorkeling, and being on the beach. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his two young children, his beloved Boxer Murphy, and cat Louie.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his adoring daughter, Grace Elizabeth (8); son, James "Jack" (4); his parents, Frank and Joyce Vavra; in-laws, Thomas and Betty Reese; brother-in-law, Peter Plikaitis; brother-in-law, Matthew Reese (Janelle); niece, Madeline; and best friend, Joe Olivadoti (Debbie).
Viewing will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home , 6107 S. East Street (US Hwy 31 South), Indianapolis, IN 46227. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Rd, Indianapolis, IN. Due to severe allergies, in lieu of flowers, an account has been created at Chase Bank to benefit the children.
