Dorothy Vivian Johnson George

93, Carmel, passed away October 17, 2013. Dorothy was born in Charleston, Missouri on March 25, 1920 to the late Alexander and Dollie Mae (Grider) Johnson. She served as a Captain in the Salvation Army in New Castle, La Porte, Indianapolis, Rushville, Elwood, and Anderson and back to Indianapolis, IN. After marriage, Dorothy worked at Western Electric, and retired from there after 25 years. She was a member of Lawrence United Methodist Church, Business Women's Association, Eastern Star #384 Lawrence Chapter, and Telephone Pioneers of America.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward George; daughter, Alexis Mae George; siblings: Caselia Ewers, Cuba Barton, Nell Shoptaugh, John Johnson and Julia Marcrum; and sister-in-law, Dessie Johnson. She is survived by her son, Charles Edward George, II and his wife, Elizabeth of Sag Harbor, NY; brother, Alfred H. Johnson of Kokomo, IN and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Dorothy was held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Lawrence United Methodist Church.
