Edward F. Donlan

92, Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. He was born November 12, 1920 to the late William and Iris Weiglein Donlan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Oliver and Helen Johnson and brother, Thomas Donlan. He was a graduate of St. Philip Neri Grade School, Cathedral High School and Indiana University Executive School. He was proud to have been a member of the I.U. swim team. Ed served as a 2nd Lieutenant during WWII and spent 3 ½ years in the Italian and African Campaigns. He was a manager at RCA for many years in the record division. The only job he had prior to RCA was as a life guard for two summers with Indianapolis City Pools during college vacations. He was a good bowler who loved the game and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Upon retirement, he spent many years in the antique & flea market business in Indiana and Pensacola Beach, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Rita Green Donlan; son, William Donlan (Diana); daughters, Joanne Kinsman and Linda Erwin (David); sister, Katherine Jackson; and 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 9 at 12:30 p.m. in St. Jude Catholic Church, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hemophilia of Indiana, 5172 E. 65th St., Ste. 105, Indianapolis, IN 46220.
