Elisabeth O. Neuss
Died on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the age of 95 after being struck by a car while walking on a sidewalk near her home in Nashville, Tennessee. She was going to the grocery store in anticipation of a tea for new neighbors.
Eli was born on April 1, 1918 in Aarau, Switzerland and was the second of five children of Rudolph Osterwalder and Emilie Buser Osterwalder. She married the late Norbert Neuss of Krakow, Poland in September of 1946. She immigrated to Evanston, Illinois in the fall of 1949 with the sponsorship of Oscar Stein of Chicago and celebrated her first Christmas in America with the birth of her daughter Karin Neuss Bajor, who preceded her in death in 1989. She spent the greatest portion of her life in Indianapolis. There, she had two sons, Richard who died as an infant, and Michael, now of Nashville, who survives her along with Gwyneth Neuss of Nashville, Larry Bajor of Big Rapids, Michigan, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and her sister Trudi Vogt of Zurich, Switzerland.
During her 60 years in Indianapolis, volunteer work with the International Violin Competition, Unitarian Church, and Indianapolis Fine Arts Society assumed a major importance in her life. Eli pursued her lifelong love of the visual arts through her training as a fashion designer in Switzerland and volunteer work at the Indianapolis Art Museum.
Services are yet to be determined.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I was a friend of Karin's growing up until we moved in 1962. We were neighbors who lived down the street. I was sorry to hear of Karin's passing also. My prayers are with you and your family.

We are greatly saddened to hear of the sudden death of our beloved Elisabeth, whom we just spoke with recently, planning to visit her in Nashville. Eli and her husband Norbert were visionary patrons in the Arts in Indianapolis. Thank you Eli, and Norbert for your encouragement on our lifelong path as Artists. We will always remember your friendship.
With our deepest sympathy to the Neuss Family.

So sorry to hear about the tragic way she died. I remember her well at the Swim Club when our children were very young. I immediately recognized her as Michael's mother because of the similarity in their eyes, and again in the eyes of her grandchildren. It is never easy to lose a parent regardless of age.
