Fredrick L. Bemenderfer
79, Indianapolis, passed August 17, 2013. Born July 14, 1934 in Akron, IN, he was a 1952 graduate of Tech High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War.
Fred was a machinist at GM Truck and Bus for over 30 years. He enjoyed camping, traveling, crossword puzzles, and especially playing golf. He had been a member of Emmanuel Church of Greenwood and White River Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Peggy Jo (Wilson); children, Joy (Ralph) Bork, Gay (Brian) Shingleton, Glee Messer; sister, Donna (George) McAlister; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, William D. and Verna Bemenderfer and siblings, William, Harry and Norma.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20 in G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 South State Road 135. The Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August. 21 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Season's Hospice.
