Grace G. McFarling

95, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully, surrounded by all those who loved her deeply, on January 15th, 2013. She was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was born on a warm summer day on August 16, 1917 in a little white frame farmhouse to Edna and Aaron Hawker. She grew up on the farm in the town of Hazel Dell, Illinois, and married her childhood sweetheart Robert McFarling in 1935. They moved to Indianapolis in 1940. Mom was the epitome of the word "Homemaker". Family and home came first, raising four children.

Mom was very active in University Park Christian Church, Eastern Star, and enjoyed playing bridge and golf. Mom also was a part of making Holidays special for the employees at McFarling Foods.

She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 78 years…Robert McFarling. Daughter Jane Nielson (Duane), son Robert E. McFarling, Jr (Jackie), daughter Char Hood (Darrell), son Michael McFarling (Becki); 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.. and her sweet little cat Cleo. Mom will be missed, but live on in our hearts forever. Friends may call Saturday January 19, 2013 from 2:30pm-5:30pm at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park North 2706 Kessler Blvd West Drive Indianapolis, Indiana 46228. Funeral service will follow at 5:30pm. Entombment will be on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11am in Washington Park North Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gleaners Food Bank 3737 Waldemere Avenue Indianapolis, IN 46241 and of Greater Indiana 50 East 91st Street Indianapolis, IN 46240.
