Of Westfield passed away January 7, 2013 at the age of 85. Born in Dubois, Indiana, she was the daughter of Joseph H. and Magdalena Kempf Theising. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, V. John Davis, her parents, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.
She graduated from Dubois High School and then Indiana Business College. She went on to work as a stenographer for the Veterans Administration and as a Secretarial Assistant for an investment company, but her true calling was that of wife, mother, and homemaker. Helen was a charter member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. She was involved in the Medical Missions group as well as the Living Rosary ministry. She had many hobbies over the years including sewing, quilting, gardening, driving a tractor and truck, and feeding livestock on the family farm. Her passion was sewing and quilting and she made over 100 quilts. She also served as the head inspector at the local polls on Election Day for many elections.
She is survived by her six children and spouses: Carol (Bill) Whitson of West Lafayette, IN, Judy (Bob) Crandall and Nancy Davis of Carmel, IN, Charles Davis and Beverly Emmert of Westfield, IN, and Joe (Caroline) Davis of Midland, MI; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary, Carmel Chapel , Carmel, IN. Rosary will follow visitation. The funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church on January 12, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens immediately following Mass.
