James C. Deering
79, of Carmel, passed away on Tuesday, May 29. 2012. Born October 3, 1932, he was the son of the late Milton and Ruth (Phillips) Deering, Sr. His son, Troy Deering; daughter, Dawn Summitt; grandson, Jerry Summitt; brothers, Robert, Ben and John Deering also preceded him in death.
James was a 1950 graduate of Carmel High School. He was the owner and operator of James Deering Cleaners (which later became Carriage Cleaners) and James Deering Reality. He was a Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his siblings, David (Judi) Deering, Milton Deering, Jr., Jan (Linda) Deering, Lana (Bill) Wilson, Nancy Bond, Linda (Vic) Miller, Dick Deering, Debbie (Thom) Miller, Matt (Jeanne) Deering; his two granddaughters, Holly and Kaylyn; his two great-granddaughters, Sabrina and Samantha and his sisters-in-law, Sonnie Deering and Paula Deering; along with many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life services will be Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Leppert Mortuary, Smith Carmel Chapel , with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
