James L. Walters Obituary

James L. "Jim" Walters,

77, of Indianapolis, passed away February 12, 2014. He was born April 16, 1936, in Kokomo, IN, to the late Glenn M. and Mary B. Elston Walters. Jim attended Arsenal Tech High School and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Nan Claire Dickerson March 30, 1960, and she preceded him in death April 15, 2012.

Jim devoted his 36 year career as a printer to the Indianapolis Star & News, retiring January 2, 1998. His restoration of a 1930 Model "A" Ford Roadster, and his membership in the Mid Hoosier Model "A" Ford Club provided several years of pleasure and special friendships. Jim attended Pleasant Run United Church of Christ.

A private graveside service will be held April 16, 2014 at Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, IN.

Jim is survived by his loving daughters, Nanette K. Adrian (Victor Sison), Beth Ann Hildebrand and Susan G. Miller (Roger); grandchildren, Justin, Megan, Nathaniel, Emily and Brookly; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Alexa Amiah and McKinnley; and brother, William R. "Bill" Walters (Nancy); and several nieces and nephews.

Jim's brother, Joseph "Robert" Walters and David Glenn Walters; sisters, Marjorie Jane Zike and JoAnne Oler, preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
