James W. Smith

84, was born on November 20, 1928 and passed away on February 1, 2013. James worked for IPALCO, as an electronic meter specialist for 39 ½ years, retiring in 1991. He also served as Union President and Assistant Business Manager with IBEW Local #1395. James was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and a veteran of the Navy. James is survived by his 5 children, Dorene Perry, James II, Cheryl Spencer, Daniel and Patrick Smith; two sons-in-law, Craig Perry and Ray Spencer and two daughters-in-law, Anita and Michele Smith. There are 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dolores Clare (Skahill) Smith in August 2009. Visitation will be on Monday, February 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary . Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 5 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.
