Jerry Marlette

On April 3, 2014, after a long and interesting life, Jerry Marlette, age 93, of Johnson County, Indiana, took up flight with the angels. He was a commercial pilot, flying airplanes and helicopters throughout North America. His company offered the first helicopter medical emergency service in the United States. He was a test pilot and instructor at Allison Turbine Engines.

Jerry was a World War II and Korean War veteran. He was co-founder of the Indiana State Transportation Museum. An authority on the Indiana Interurban Transportation System, Jerry authored four books on the subject.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Ann, his stepdaughter, Penelope Coit, his son in law and friend Dewey Killman, and his daughter Sandy Thompson. No services are planned. Memorial contribution donations may be made in Jerry's name to the Indiana Historical Society 450 West Ohio Street Indianapolis, Indiana 46202 or the Indiana Transportation Museum P.O. Box 83 Noblesville, Indiana 46061. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Franklin is handling the arrangements.
