Larry L. Kelley

74, of Indianapolis, died Friday, September 16 at Hoosier Village in Zionsville. Larry was born on September 14, 1937 in Boone County to John and Berneese (Shoemaker) Kelley. Larry was reared and educated in Boone County graduating from Lebanon High School with the class of 1956 and served his country in the United States Air Force. He was employed by Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis for 25 years; he retired March 1, 2010. Larry enjoyed watching sporting events, especially IU basketball, NASCAR and anything to do with Jeff Gordon. Larry enjoyed dancing and in his younger years competed in roller skating. Most of all, Larry enjoyed and planned his life around his family. He enjoyed all the family outings whether they were large or small.

Survivors include his sister, Joan Frick of Lebanon; brother, Bruce Kelley of Florida; step-brothers, Larry Sheets of Arkansas and Bob Sheets of Lebanon; step-sister, Shirley Dane of Oklahoma; nieces, Cheryl (Dan) Urbanski of Lebanon and Carrie Grief and fiance Shane Newlun of Lebanon. Also surviving are nieces, Starlene (Gordon) Rose, Marcia (Norm) Miertz; nephews, Richard Hill and Robert Carter Hill; great- nephew, Sgt. Derek Jones who is leaving this week for a tour in Afganistan; great-nieces Ashley Mullens and Jessica Grief; great-great niece Payton Mullens and great-great nephew Mason Mullens as well as many, many cousins and his special longtime friend, Richard Burrell. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rudy Kelley; sisters, Judy Bowen and Betty Todd and his step-mother, Roberta Kelley. His family would like to thank Hoosier Village and St. Vincent Hospice for all of their love and care.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, September 21 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Pastor Dan Strong will officiate celebration of life service Thursday, September 22 at 10:30 a.m. in the mortuary. Larry will be laid to rest in the Mts. Runn Cemetery.
