Dr. Lloyd S. Terry

95 Danville, passed away January 17, 2013 in the Avon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born November 3, 1917 in Reno, IN., he was the son of Clyde Harry and Grace Poor Terry. After graduating from Amo High School, he attended Indiana University until being drafted during WWII. Lloyd married Oranna Wellman on August 24, 1941 in Danville. While serving in the Navy, they recommended that he attend Medical School. He finished his undergraduate studies at Indiana University and was then accepted into their medical program. Upon completion, he returned to the Navy as a medical officer to fulfill his obligation. In 1949 he opened his first private practice in Danville. In 1955, Dr. Robert Kirtley joined this practice. When Hendricks County Hospital opened in 1963, they were among the first active medical staff for the emergency room. Dr. Terry retired in 1984 and in 2004 Hendricks Regional Health and the Town of Danville dedicated a street adjacent to the hospital as Terry-Kirtley Drive. Lloyd was an avid I U and Butler basketball fan, enjoyed spending time at his cabin, fishing, tinkering around, collecting and/or restoring antiques. He was a member of the Whitestone Christian Church, American Medical Association and the Crawfordsville Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his daughters, Cindy (Don) Thompson of Crawfordsville, Penny Terry of California, grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) James, Ben (Cara) Thompson and 2 great grandchildren, Cameron and Lucas James. His parents, wife, Oranna Terry and sisters, Bea Rhoades and Virginia Purvis, preceded him in death.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2013 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville. A private inurnment will follow at a later date in the Danville South Cemetery.
