Martha Frank Obituary

Martha Jean "Marty" Whicker Frank

71 went to her Maker on Sunday, December 22, 2013 in Indianapolis. Marty, who was born on November 19, 1942, was a person of character, exuberance and leadership, with a touch of humility and kindness. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucile Whicker. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Tom Frank of Indianapolis; her daughter, Terri (husband John) Spafford; grandchildren, Amanda and Christopher (Indianapolis); her son, Robert (wife Robin) Ratcliff; grandchildren, Robert and James (Evansville); her brother, Larry Whicker (Evansville) and five stepchildren.

Marty was a 1960 graduate of Bosse High School and attended the IU School of Music and majored in cello and minored in piano. Marty had many passions in her life: a leader in the Assistance League of Indianapolis, a cellist in the Indianapolis Philharmonic orchestra, as well as the St Luke's United Methodist Church orchestra, an artist with Marshall oils and photography, an alto in the St Luke's UMC choir, a General Class ham radio operator, a member of the women's support for Circle City Sound and a member of the Indianapolis Sailing Club for over twenty years. Marty leaves behind twenty grandchildren who have adored her mentoring relationship, and as a result will be great people in this world. Marty is now experiencing a far, far better place than she has ever known.
