Michael Scott Hillard
Mike was born in Beech Grove, Indiana on October 16, 1967, and left to be with Jesus in Heaven on September 30, 2013. "Big Mike" as he was known to his school friends was a 1986 graduate of Northwest high School, where he played the tuba in the marching band and a mean trumpet in the jazz band. He was also the statistician for the football, basketball and wrestling teams, while in school. He continued to do this on a volunteer basis for many years after graduation. Mike also coached the girls softball team at Northwest.
Mike loved the Lord and was a member of Westview Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan and could be seen relaxed in his recliner watching every football, basketball and baseball game possible. He also followed Nascar. On Sunday, he could be heard saying we just didn't have enough televisions in the house.
Mike had been employed as a school bus driver for the Danville School System for the past 10 years. Prior to this time, he worked as a school bus driver for Laidlaw Corporation and Washington Township Schools. "Mr. Mike" as he was known to the kids on his bus loved his job and the kids, who rode his bus. In addition to driving the school bus, during the summers he worked for Baseball Info Solutions, keeping stats for the Indianapolis Indians.
Mike leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Ron and Joyce (Gill) Hillard; his sister, Heidi (Greg) Marley and nieces, Hadlee Brooks and Kayla Brooks, who will deeply miss their "Uncle Mikey." He also leaves behind several uncles, aunts and cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Bonnie Gill, Marie Hillard Adams and Del and Rosemary Hillard, as well as a cousin, Gina Hillard and his aunt sis, Mary McElyea Vinson.
