Norman E. Shelton

66, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at his residence in Greenwood. Born July 10, 1946 in Indianapolis, he was a US Navy veteran and graduate of Triton Central High School. He retired from National Starch after 32 years and worked security at Raytheon for four years.

An avid bowler, he spent many years on leagues and enjoyed golfing, fishing and all muscle cars.

Norman and Janet made many memories traveling across the United States together, including their trips to Alaska, Florida, Hawaii and a six week drive out west and many Caribbean Cruises.

His sense of humor and kind heart will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was a member of Indian Creek Christian Church, where he served as a greeter and a communion server for many years. He was also a member of American Legion Post # 495 and United Steel Workers Union.

Survivors: his wife of 36+ years, Janet L. (Hansen) Shelton; children, Shane Shelton ( Penny), Gymi McBurnett (Randy), Ed Smith (Kathy), Sheri Maar-Daugherty, Steven Padgett (Robin); siblings, Shannon "Jonny" Johnson, Shirley Gray, Jim Shelton, Jeff Shelton, Mike Shelton; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cookie Johns; his son-in-law, David Daugherty; his parents, Gene and Marie (Morrison) Shelton and three nieces.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18 in G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home , 5141 Madison Ave., Indpls, with the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Burial: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Indian Creek Christian Church; Memo: Generous Bucket. Online condolences:
