Philip J. Ahlbrand

74, of Indianapolis, passed away January 21, 2014. He was born August 11, 1939 in Seymour, IN, to the late Albert E. and Alice Steinwedel Ahlbrand. Phil was a 1957 graduate of Seymour Senior High School, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1961 from Indiana State University. He married Shirley Hobson, February 27, 1964 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, IN, and served his country in the U.S. Navy. Phil began his career in accounting with Ernst & Ernst eventually becoming a self-employed CPA, retiring after 50 years of service, in 2011. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and American Legion Post #34.

Visitation will be Friday, January 24, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 8540 E. 16th St. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour, IN.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Shirley H. Ahlbrand; sons, Brian P. (Stacey), Alan J. (Bethany) and Jay M. (Kimberly) Ahlbrand; grandchildren, Alexander, Drew, Dalton, Abigail, Gerald and Taylor Ahlbrand; sister, Judy C. McGinley (Gerre); and brother, Albert C. Ahlbrand. Two brothers, Richard P. and A. James Ahlbrand, preceded him in death.
