Richard "Dick" McCalley
89, of Indianapolis, passed away February 2, 2013. Richard Eugene McCalley is our hero. He lived his life with such honor and pride. He was a kind, sweet, loving man who always knew how to make us smile. He loved life and life loved him back. He was blessed to share a love so special with his wife, Ellie, it penetrated the lives of everyone who knew him.
Dick proudly served his country in WWII and we loved hearing these stories about this time in his life.
He was a devoted Catholic and served the Lord all his days.
He graduated from Notre Dame which has always been special to us because of his devotion to the Irish.
Dick is survived by his children, Thomas (BJ), Timothy (Tina), Joseph, Kevin, Christopher (Marilyn), John, Catherine Barney (Paul), Peggy McCullough (Timothy), Jeanne TeKolste (Kim), Andrea Perkins (Ben), Patty Roach (Vern), Mary Myers (Jim), 34 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A multitude of nieces and nephews also survive.
He raised all 12 of his children to be honorable, loving people. He made all 34 of his grandkids feel so special. Thank you for being such an incredible role model on how a life should be lived. You are our hero, in indescribable ways. Thanks for being the patriarch of our family. Rest in Peace Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa. We love you.
