Robert D. Parkhurst Sr.
73, Greenwood, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012. Born on Dec. 17, 1938, he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. His passion and love for his country and all heroes led to him founding USA American Heroes in Greenwood. He owned and operated the store until his health forced him to retire in Sept. 2011. He was also formerly employed by Fedex, Bosma, and Gray Line.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon (Whitaker) Losche Parkhurst; ten children, Wendy Smith of Winterhaven FL, Robert Duaine Parkhurst Jr of Pensacola FL, Kimberly Skinner of St. Roberts MO, Kelley Gough of Manassass VA, Gary Losche, Susan Losche, Veronica (Larry) Losche Cole, Laura Losche, Michelle Losche Bodem, Joann Losche (Marcos Jimenez); three sisters, Gerri Butsch, Carolyn (Floyd) Tilson, Loretta Kortepeter; 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother, Don Parkhurst; mother, Dorothy Snider, and father, Everett Parkhurst.
He was a beloved husband, father, and grandaddy that truly cherished spending time with all of his family. He was the biggest fan in the stands for his grandchildren's events, and also enjoyed the Pacers, Colts and Redskins.
Visitation will be Friday, Mar 2 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S State Rd 135. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Mar 3 in the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in The Field of Heroes at The Gardens at Olive Branch.
