Ron Hale

Age 72, of Greenwood, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 at his residence. He was born August 2, 1941 in Troy, Ohio to Robert J. Hale and Lavera (Arnett) Hale. He was married to Patricia A. (Thompson) Hale, she survives. He graduated from Milton-Union High School in West Milton, Ohio. Ron graduated from Indiana State University with BS and MS degrees in Industrial Engineering Technology and was a member of Epsilon Pi Tau International Technology Society.

Ron was a retiree of General Motors Allison Engine Company (Allison Transmission) and EDS. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran (1st Mob Division) of the Vietnam War and had been stationed in South Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines. He was a classic car collector and a member of the Indiana Historic Auto Club. He was a member of Christ Our Shepherd Church of the Brethren in Greenwood where he served as Veterans Program Coordinator and was part of the Board of Directors for the church. Ron also served on the board of directors of Warriors Hope. He was a member of the Greenwood American Legion Post #252 and Southport Masonic Lodge #270.

Survivors include his wife Patricia A. (Thompson) Hale of Greenwood, son Ryan A. Hale (Alida) of Greenwood, three granddaughters Nikaya , Nadia, and Nicolette, mother Lavera (Arnett) Hale of Greenwood, brother Robert J. Hale Jr. (Sally) of Fairbanks, Alaska and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Robert J. Hale and his sister Sheila (Frank G. Rankin IV).

Pastor Wayne Grumbling will conduct a memorial service Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Christ Our Shepherd Church of The Brethren 875 North State Road 135 in Greenwood. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 p.m. till service time at the church. Final resting place will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. The family request memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Warriors Hope (317) 883-9331 or the Indiana Blood and Marrow Transplantation Assistant Fund at St. Francis (317) 528-5500.
