Russell C. "Buddy" Akers
61, Indianapolis, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at his home surrounded by family. He was born April 1, 1950 in Martinsville, IN to the late Kenneth and Katherine Kelly. Buddy retired from PM Company after 29 years as a forklift operator. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Akers; children, Tina (David) Caldwell, Russell Akers II, and Tracy (Otis) Huffman; grandchildren, Brady Akers, Tyler Caldwell, and Destiny Huffman; sisters, Becky Huffman and Judy Cramer; and family friend, Josh Jeffers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Donald Cook. Visitation will be Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Little & Sons Funeral Home, Beech Grove Chapel , where the funeral will be Friday, February 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family would like to thank all their special family and friends through this difficult time.
