Thomas Allan Porter

63, of Muncie, Indiana went to Heaven to be with Jesus on Friday, August 30, 2013 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 11, 1950 to Charles Allan and Barbara (Osterheld) Porter. He was a graduate of Carmel High School and Ball State University.

Tom was a Pressman at the Muncie Star Newspaper of thirty years. He loved spending time with his family at the lake fishing and boating. He loved watching NASCAR races, cooking, and tending to his herb and flower garden. He was an avid animal lover and loyal friend to many.

Tom is survived by his wife of thirty- one years, Connie (Walters) Porter; Daughters Nicki Sprong (husband David) of Muncie, IN; Carrie Miller (husband Chad) of Lexington, KY; son Brandon Porter of Muncie, IN; and sister Trudy Weaver (husband Bob) of Carmel, IN. Grandchildren are Alexandra, Jacob, and Abbi Sprong; and Dawson and Gavin Miller. He also loved his two sweet dogs Keylee and Titan.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Union Chapel Church- 4622 North Broadway, Muncie, IN, with Pastor Glenn Greiner officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to IU Health Ball Memorial Cancer Center or the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) in Muncie, IN, with envelopes provided at the church.
