Dr. Thomas C. Madden

59, passed away on August 8, 2012. Tom was born on June 11, 1953, to Carl and Josephine (Kot) Madden, who have preceded him in death.

Tom attended St. Roch Catholic Grade School and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1971. He graduated with honors from Notre Dame in 1975. He completed one year of medical school at Tulane University and then transferred to IU Medical School graduating in 1979. Tom interned at Lutheran General Hospital in Chicago, IL. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Illinois affiliated hospitals in 1982. He was the recipient of the Hillyard I. Abzug Award for outstanding resident of 1982.

Tom practiced emergency medicine for 30 years. He was the current chairman and CEO of Unity Physicians Group, PC. Tom was a recipient of the Fred Osbourne Award given by Indiana Acep, past medical director of the Schneck Memorial Hospital Emergency Department in Seymour, IN; Bedford Regional Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, Bedford, IN and Fayette Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, Connersville, IN; past president of American College of Emergency Physicians, Indiana Chapter.

Tom was the past president and served on the board of director of Hoosiers for seat belts from 1984-1989. Tom was a member of Knights of Columbus 3660 and served on the Roncalli High School Board of Trustees.

Tom married the love of his life, Terri L. Robinson, on April 26, 1980. Tom is survived by Terri, and their loving children: Erin K., Lauren E. and Austin J. Madden. Tom was very proud of his talented, beautiful children and their many accomplishments. Tom reveled helping them with their school projects.

Tom was loved and admired by his five siblings: Mary Ann (Mike) Kaiser; John (Deb); Paul (Theresa); Jeanne; and Jim (Kitty) Madden.

Tom very much loved Terri's parents, Jim and Joyce Robinson and their wonderful family; Jim, Mike (Lee Ann) Robinson, Lisa (Gary) Greene, and Lori (Kenny) Elsbury and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was a loving husband, father, brother, friend,uncle and co-worker. Tom was a quiet compassionate man.

Tom was a civil war buff and enjoyed singing along with the sound track of popular musicals. His hobbies included skiing, hiking, bird watching and vacationing at a dude ranch with his family.

Tom felt blessed that he was an extension of god's healing hand.

Visitation will be Friday, August 10, 2012 from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home , 6107 S. East St. (US Hwy 31 South), Indianapolis, IN 46227. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Roch Catholic Church, 3600 South Pennsylvania Street, Indianapolis. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery.
