William F. Piel

97 years old, of Zionsville, passed away peacefully March 7, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis after a short illness. He was a long-time resident of Danville and was a widower three times. He married Elizabeth Kadel of Indianapolis in 1940; they had two children and resided first in Cartersburg and then in Danville. After Elizabeth passed away in 1988, he married Mary Louise Kellams of Greenwood in 1991; they resided in Danville. After Mary Louise passed away in 1993, he married Phyllis Kultgen of Bloomington in 1994; they resided in Bloomington. After Phyllis passed away in 2008, Mr. Piel moved to Zionsville Meadows in Zionsville. He attended Shortridge High School and Wabash College. He worked in the printing industry in Indianapolis, retiring in 1992. He was a founding member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Danville. He was president of the Danville Conservation Club and once ran unsuccessfully for Danville Park Commissioner. Mr. Piel was for 30 years a member of the Indiana National Guard and the U. S. Army Reserve. He did volunteer work for Meals-on-Wheels in Bloomington. He is survived by two children, Elizabeth Dillon of Zionsville, William Piel, Jr. of Nesconset, NY and a son-in-law, Timothy Dillon. Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is in charge of the arrangements.
