William L. Bender

88, died Wed. evening Oct. 16, 2013 as a result of an earlier stroke. Amazing father, devoted husband to Norma J. Campbell (1924-1985), and loving grandfather were among his many accomplishments. He was a retired Eli Lilly executive (35+ yrs of service) with several pharmaceutical and agrichemical patents to his name, proud and decorated veteran of the 42nd Rainbow Division serving in WWII, American patriot, world traveler, conservationist, National Park Senior Corp volunteer, SCORE volunteer, Eiteljorg Museum docent, Grand Sycamore of Indiana State U. (class of 1949), Lions Club member, longtime member of Calvary U. M. Church and numerous other organizations.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Trudy Bender, Tresa Kautz, and Tauna Griffith, their spouses, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. We invite you to celebrate his well-lived and well-loved life with them at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg Mon. Oct. 21st from 3-7 p.m., followed by a funeral service Tues. Oct. 22nd at 10 a.m. in Calvary United Methodist Church in Brownsburg, IN.
